The nomination period is an intermediate period that prepares a person to choose the right one and to enter a common life. Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to investigate the pathology of couples' problems in the stage of engagement. The study was conducted in a qualitative method using a phenomenological approach. theoretical saturation criterion, 13 couple’s engagement participated in this study. The semi-structured interview method was used to collect information. Then the data was collected, recorded, coded and categorized as main and sub themes. Analysis of the experiences of the interview with the candidate's couples resulted in the identification of 243 primary codes, 19 sub-themes and 5 main themes including ineffective communication patterns, patterns of inefficiency in relationship management, value system of couples, schematic mentality, and the destructive effects of the main family. The results showed that factors such as lack of understanding and interaction, communication problems, lack of originality, inability to encourage and reassure, inability to manage conflicts, lack of transparency of roles, inability to manage personal and personal boundaries, disability in social network management, attitude towards religion and spirituality, culture and traditions, beliefs, needs, traps, self-knowledge, emotional mood, dependency, negative family modeling, unsuccessful experiences in the family, and negative role of the family in problems and injuries. The nomination period for married couples plays an important role on the verge of marriage. Therefore, it is imperative to pay special attention to these important factors in pre-marital enrichment programs for young people.

Abstract: Thinking of making a family is reaching at psychological peace and internal safety and experience of true happiness; and marital satisfaction is an important step for receiving this peace. The objective of the present study was to determine the effectiveness of Family- based psychological program on the basis of Islamic Iranian Pattern in marital satisfaction. The study was a quasi- experimental research with pre- test, post- test and follow up with control group. The participants of this study were 40 couples assigned to experimental (n = 20) and control (n = 20) groups. The instrument used in this study was Afrooz Marital Satisfaction Scale (AMSS). The experimental group experienced ten (90-minutes) sessions of instructional intervention held once a week. The results demonstrated that there was a significant difference between experimental and control groups in improving marital satisfaction in pre-test, post-test and follow up steps. The Family-based program on the basis of Islamic Iranian Pattern has been effective in improving marital satisfaction. The findings of this study point to the key role of communication skills, self- consciousness, sex relationships, anger management, problem- solving, positive thinking, parenting and time management in the Islamic Iranian pattern and it,s effect on marital satisfaction. This program is recommended for training couples in counseling centers.
